About Us

Gecko Educational has been producing quality Australian-made multicultural early childhood educational products for more than 25 years. Gecko Educational is an Australian owned and operated company now based in Sydney. The company was established in 1993 by Lyn Cook, who had already been working in the educational toy/resource industry since 1985, starting with making educational wooden jigsaw puzzles for Louise Rayner Puzzles.

Gecko Educational is the only producer of Children’s Talking Books. Children’s Talking Books was established over 30 years ago, by Stephanie Mann, who saw the need for children’s audio books to be produced using Australian voices, at a time when most were narrated in American English. Stephanie and Lyn worked together for many years, before Stephanie passed away in 2014, when Lyn took over ownership of Children’s Talking Books. There are now more than 60 titles in the CTB range, with more being added regularly.

We also produce a large range of Aboriginal and Indigenous educational resources for children, including Kurrajong Aboriginal Products. At Gecko Educational, we believe strongly that we need to educate children from a young age about Aboriginal and Indigenous Australian history and culture, so they can develop an understanding and appreciation of it. Indigenous children can also be further encouraged to learn more about the wealth of their own rich and vibrant heritage and culture. Through knowledge comes respect.

A percentage of all Gecko Educational sales support a range of charities and organisations, currently including The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, The Fred Hollows Foundation, Children's Ground, and through royalties and payments to designers and artists, various Aboriginal projects; and others as funds allow!

Reuse and Recycle - Gecko Educational strongly supports minimal packaging and we reuse and recycle wherever possible.
